We will be collecting dry goods that can be used to serve breakfast for those in need. The items that have been requested are:

On Thursday, March 21st, David Krol will preside at our evening liturgy which will include the blessing of an icon of St. Joseph and the Infant Jesus in memory of Dean Fr. Joseph G. Mueller. Our celebration will be supported by an accompanist and choir. Since his passing in January 2023, some people have mentioned that they wish they could still be the beneficiary of his wise counsel and others have mentioned that they seek his intercession. For that reason, we have included on the frame the phrase from Genesis 41:55: Ite ad Joseph. Go to Joseph. The portrait, a work of alumnus Fr. Jonathan Harmon, SJ, was donated by the Jesuit Community.

The David Brower Center invites Northern California artists to apply to Art/Act: Local 2024, our annual juried exhibition showcasing four local artists whose works explore environmental concerns and topics. For this year’s exhibition, inspired by the work of Planting Justice, we are soliciting artwork that engages with the slow, patient process of building sustainable change.
Four selected artists will be offered a $1000 honorarium each. This can be used towards the creation of new work, framing or mounting existing work, or any other exhibition production expenses. Artists must live in Northern California.

The real challenges we face in our work to cultivate healthy community and human flourishing are not the ones that typically catch our attention and focus our efforts. The problems are more than the overt injustices; they exist as unidentified, and thus, intractable, presumptions that animate our efforts towards the good. Dietrich Bonhoeffer offers an example of this challenge.
He offers a sincere and lasting Christian response to the crisis in Germany that was contrast to the near wholesale acquiescence that was common among the general protestant German population. Yet, he also struggled with a common presumption, the problem of the human, i.e. an ideal to which we aspire without question. In this lecture we will take a brief look at this problem by looking at Bonhoeffer’s effort, with the help of the Black Radical Tradition as exemplified by Cedric Robinson.

The JST-SCU Culture of Care: Keeping One Another Safe and Healthy
Testing
With new variants circulating, infections and hospitalizations are back on the rise, testing plays a critical role. COVID-19 rapid antigen tests are available from the JST Front Desk.
- Before coming to campus, please test for COVID-19 using an at-home rapid antigen test. If you test positive, please report your test result and observe all isolation protocols and precautions. Do not come to campus if you have tested positive.
- We strongly recommend you test three to five days after arriving on campus.
- Please take a test if:
- you experience symptoms,
- 3-5 days after you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19,
- when you return from traveling, or
- before interacting with vulnerable or high-risk individuals.
Masking: Masks are a simple and effective way to reduce exposure to COVID-19 and other airborne viruses. Although not required in indoor campus locations, masks are highly recommended. In addition, faculty members have the option to require masks in classrooms.
If you are experiencing any illness symptoms we always recommend staying home. If you are testing negative and feel good enough to come to campus we strongly encourage you to wear a mask. If exposed to COVID-19, you do not need to quarantine. Test 3-5 days after your last exposure and wear a mask. If you test negative, consider testing again 48 hours later to confirm a negative result; if experiencing symptoms, test again 48 hours after the second negative test.
Isolation: If you test positive, you must report your positive test result, isolate for at least 5 days and wear a mask through Day 10. Isolation during your infectious period means you may not go to class, work, lab, or other activities. Please notify your professors, supervisors, and close contacts. Faculty have been encouraged to accommodate students who need to isolate.
If you test positive for the flu, RSV, or if you are ill with another respiratory virus, please stay home to help with your recovery and to limit transmission to others.

CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) Short-Term Therapy
CAPS continues to offer short-term therapy. The basic steps to getting started in CAPS are outlined below, and the CAPS website has more detailed information on short-term therapy services:
- First Step: Phone consultation. Students can call 408-554-4501 to schedule a phone consultation, which takes 15-25 minutes. During this call, CAPS staff assess if the therapeutic support a student is seeking fits within the short-term therapy model at CAPS. Collaboratively, the therapist and student will determine next steps.
- If short-term therapy is recommended, a CAPS therapist will then reach out to the student to schedule a 50 minute intake appointment via the SCU Health Portal.
- If referral to an off-campus therapist or services is recommended, an appointment with the Cowell Center Clinical Case Manager will be offered to support the referral process.
*Reminder: There are no limits on the number of therapy sessions and no fees at CAPS, but services are designed to be short-term.

Campus Safety Services encourages students, faculty, and staff to be an active participant in your personal and community safety. The following safety reminders will help keep campus safety a priority:
- Always lock your vehicle and residence upon exiting and at night; if you live off-campus, consider investing in a doorbell camera device
- Never store valuables in your vehicle
- Use fortified locks when securing your bicycle or skateboard
- Be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activity to Campus Safety and/or the Berkeley Police Department
