 | Liturgy NewsIndoor liturgy: In October, JST was exploring the possibility of indoor liturgy in the Chapel. However, Alameda County has once more moved into a more restrictive tier with the rise in COVID cases, so only outdoor worship is permitted. We will reconsider indoor liturgy if conditions improve. Please see the announcement for the Diocese of Oakland.
Our main Advent liturgy will be a celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday evening, December 11, at 5:15 p.m. PST. All are welcome to stay for some social time following the liturgy. See more information here.

We invite you to prepare for Christmas and pray throughout Advent with Waiting in Joyful Hope: Daily Advent Prayer from the Jesuit School of Theology, an online retreat. Each day of Advent, a member of our community will offer a reflection on that day’s Scripture readings which will be sent to subscribers each morning. Reflections are written by members of the Jesuit School of Theology and Santa Clara University community. JST Announcements
- Fr. George Murphy, S.J. will lead a morning of prayer, Thanksgiving in a Time of Covid, on Saturday, November 21, 9:30 a.m. - noon PST. This morning retreat will include some input, some time for personal prayer, and an opportunity for faith sharing. If you want to participate, contact George Murphy at grmurphy@scu.edu and he will send you a Zoom link.
- JST Lay Students are invited to a lay formation gathering on Thursday, December 3, from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. PST. Four JST lay alumni who are now living in New York City will describe their transition from graduate school to professional life, and will relate their experience of work and ministry in this time of the pandemic and the call for racial justice. This will be a panel with time for questions and discussion. Please see more information at this link.
- Black Catholic History: If you missed the talk on Black Catholic History on November 16 at USF, you may view a similar talk by Dr. Shannen Dee Williams at this link, as well as an article that she wrote for NCR.
