Liturgy News
  • Spanish Mass, Wednesday, Nov. 13, 5:15pm
  • During the month of November, we have an opportunity to remember our beloved dead by placing a photo or object on the altarcito (little altar), the altar of remembrance in the Chapel, and/or by writing names in the Book of the Dead. This year’s altarcito features a contemporary icon, “Our Lady of Ferguson and All Who Have Died of Gun Violence,” by artist Mark C. Eugene Doox, in observance of Black Catholic History Month in November.

JST Announcements
  • All JST lay students are invited for a lay formation gathering on Friday, November 22, 12:40- 2 p.m., in Manresa.  We will gather for prayer, a pre-Thanksgiving lunch, and reflection on how ministry takes shape in your own cultural context.   Please RSVP with Mary Beth Lamb at melamb@scu.edu by November 18.
  • "Restorative Practices for Ministries, for Life" Workshop (scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 6:00-7:30 p.m.) will be rescheduled and offered in the spring semester.
  • SCU Bronco Alerts:  If you have not done so already, please register to receive "Bronco Alerts."  These are safety and emergency alerts from the Campus Safety office of Santa Clara University, regarding incidents in the Berkeley area.  By subscribing to Bronco Alerts you can ensure that you will receive updated information about such things as power outages, fire or weather advisories, crime alerts, or other incidents such as earthquakes.  To subscribe to Bronco Alerts, please click here and then on "SCU Bronco Alert". Use your SCU username and password to login. Once you are in "SCU Bronco Alert," update your contact information and indicate how you wish to receive alerts - e.g. via text, e-mail, voicemail.  We advise you to sign up for all if possible so that you have optimal access to alerts.
Please register or update your information in SCU Bronco Alert by Friday, November 15.  If you need assistance,  contact Mary Beth Lamb, melamb@scu.edu, in office 107.
  • Preliminary Announcement: Applications for the Summer Practicum in Spiritual Direction, June 15 - July 10, 2020, can be submitted from now until February 1, 2020. Please click on Summer Practicum in Spiritual Direction for information on the program, and/or contact George Murphy, SJ at grmurphy@scu.edu. The practicum is limited to 14 participants.
  • Thanksgiving Collection: Please donate healthy, non-perishable food items or make out a check to the Alameda County Community Food Bank (every $1 donated provides $7 of food). Checks can be placed in an envelope and put in Mary Beth Lamb's mailbox at the front desk. Food (canned meats and fish, low-sodium soups and stews, nuts, beans, brown rice, quinoa, peanut butter, whole-grain cereal, oatmeal, pasta) can be placed in the bin at the front entryway. The collection will be from November 25-December 2.
  • November 4th-22nd Fill it Forward Challenge: In an effort towards sustainable living, we are promoting the use of reusable water bottles rather than plastic throwaways.  Hyundai has donated Cupanion reusable bottles and stickers with an SCU 'code'. The stickers can be placed on your existing reusable water bottles. Students, Staff and Faculty can refill their bottles and scan with one of these items up to four times a day to gain points through the Cupanion app. A point will be given for each scan. The team with the most scans/points wins the competition. SCU's rivals are Loyola Marymount University and Pepperdine University.  All of the bottles have been taken, but please continue to scan the sticker through November 22. Every time you refill, Cupanion gives the equivalent of a cup of clean water to a person in need through a range of global development initiatives.  Check it out at http://cupanion.com/fill-it-forward. For more information, contact Mary Beth Lamb, melamb@scu.edu.
