JST Announcements

Many events here at JST, at SCU, the GTU and in the Bay Area are being canceled or postponed due to the risk of infection by COVID-19. We have taken off events that we already know about, but you will want to verify all coming events for yourself. Stay safe!

Online Workshop: Introduction to Restorative Justice, Concepts and Practices, Thursday, 3/19, 2:10-5:00pm. Please join "The Art of Restorative Practices: For Parishes, Schools, and Beyond" Bridge Course for an open, online (via Zoom) introductory session on Restorative Justice. In this session, we will cover "Living Collectively as our 'Best Selves': Values in Thought and Action" (Indigenous roots of Restorative Justice; from Newtonian to new worldviews; and Restorative Justice and Catholic Social Teaching) and "Creating Safe Places for Difficult Conversations" (e.g. Conferencing and Victim-Offender Dialog), with an emphasis on the Circle process: a foundational practice in restorative justice that can be used in any number of venues and for such purposes as community building and repairing conflicts and harms. A Teaching in Bay Area Catholic High Schools workshop will be facilitated by Shannon Vanderpol of St. Ignatius Prep., on Saturday, April 4, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at JST. This workshop is geared towards JST lay students from any/all degree programs who are considering or aspiring to teach. Though the workshop is geared towards Catholic High Schools, skills and topics covered are applicable to other ministries. Further details will follow regarding the workshop either possibly being offered in an online format or postponed. Please register by Monday, March 30 with Mary Beth Lamb, melamb@scu.edu.
