Preaching in the Context of Sexual Abuse

In a workshop designed for pastoral ministers of all kinds, Gina Hens-Piazza, Professor of Biblical Studies, and Fr. Brendan McGuire, Pastor of Holy Spirit Parish in San Jose, will offer practical suggestions about how best to preach in communities impacted by sexual abuse or abuse of authority in the Church.

• JST Community Clericalism Self-Review Sessions for Students will consist of two listening sessions, Friday, March 1 from 9:30-10:30am in the Manresa Lounge and Ash Wednesday, March 6 from 2:00-3:00pm in Classroom 216. Our hope is that these two offerings will enable many students to participate in the midst of their busy schedules. These one-hour sessions involve giving responses to the questions: How do we as a community resist clericalism in our common life, work, and practice at JST? What are the ways we may unintentionally contribute to clericalism in our culture?
• We are in the process of creating the Spring Addendum to the 2018-19 Photo Directory. If you were not included last fall or need to make a change, please fill out the survey, Photo Directory.
• JST is awarding "Student Development Grant" funding to subsidize a student's expenses for participation in a conference or workshop that will further their academic or ministerial formation.   Submit the Student Development Grant Application to Paul Kircher, Assistant Dean of Students, pkircher@scu.edu.  Deadline:  March 22, 2019.
• We are entertaining one more candidate for the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament position at JST. The Public Presentation for the third candidate is on February 26 from 1-2pm in Manresa. All are welcome and encouraged to come. Your feedback is essential for the hiring process.
