From the President

In my 2025 State of the University address, I shared Santa Clara’s progress and vision for the future. Additionally, the university has provided FAQs to address concerns about recent executive orders and policies affecting our campus community.

Welcome to the start of the 2024-2025 academic year. I enjoyed reuniting with many of our faculty and staff this past week and welcoming our newest Broncos and their families during a wonderful Welcome Weekend event.

Our Jesuit mission calls upon us to be fully committed to the caring and accompaniment of every person in our community. This includes finding ways to bring empathy, healing, understanding, and knowledge into our community.

Opus Prize Week, Nov. 11-15, 2024, will be an exciting week of events, activities and engagement with the finalists.

President Julie Sullivan joins 29 other Jesuit University presidents condemning and calling for dialogue on the recent confiscation and repression of University of Central America by the Nicaraguan government.

As a Jesuit, Catholic University, creating equitable, inclusive, and diverse communities that enrich our campus learning environment is foundational to our faith-based mission.

We are happy to share an update on new and expanded commitments we are making at Santa Clara University to strengthen the campus environment for our students of color, and to significantly increase the number of low-income and underrepresented students attending Santa Clara.

Today, we move from November, a month of gratitude, to December, a season of light and joyful hope.

Happy Halloween! As I reflect back on the month of October, the first word that comes to mind is “full!”

As I conclude month three of my presidency at Santa Clara, the first word that comes to mind is “wow!”

As we approach having everyone back at Santa Clara, you can feel the dynamic energy and excitement across campus. In my video message, you’ll learn more about me and my thoughts about the future of Santa Clara. I look forward to building that future with all of you.

As I conclude my second month as president, I am reflecting on our transition from summer to the beginning of the new academic year.

Thank you for the warm welcome with which you have greeted me as I embarked on my new adventure as President of Santa Clara this month! It has been such a delight to meet many of you in-person and begin to get to know the community and culture.

As I begin my service as your president, it is an honor and a privilege to work with all members of the University community to provide you with an exceptional Santa Clara education and experience.

At Santa Clara University, I have found a home rich in history and primed for the future, with its robust social consciousness distinctively driving tomorrow’s innovations. I’m looking forward to getting to know the Bronco family and to engaging with full heart, mind, and spirit in the work ahead.
