Director and Deputy ADA/504 Coordinator , Office of Accessible Education


Biography

James joined the Office of Accessible Education in 2021. He has received a Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and a Master of Science in Teaching, Special Education and Teaching from Pace University. James has worked within the education field as a teacher and disability advocate for his entire professional career at the middle school, high school, community college, and university level. He is motivated to provide transformational accessible services to the disabled community of SCU. James is an avid fan of the following: Star Wars, the Beatles, and the Chicago Bears football team (Bear Down!) … May the Force be with you.

Heather Stephan

Assistant Director , Office of Accessible Education


Biography

Heather Stephan joined the Office of Accessible Education (OAE) in 2015. She started in the OAE as an Accommodation Coordinator and has been thrilled to move into the Assistant Director role in recent years. She loves animals of all kinds, hiking, eating (can't cook but loves food) and learning about pop culture from SCU students.

Chris Smead

Biography

Chris Smead joined the Office of Accessible Education in October 2022. Chris manages the OAE testing center and oversees marketing and daily office functions. Chris is dedicated to helping students navigate their college experience and hopes to improve outreach to raise awareness of the disabled community on campus.

Amy Yasukawa

Access Specialist , Office of Accessible Education


Biography

Amy Yasukawa joined the Office of Accessible Education in 2023. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seattle University. Amy works collaboratively with disabled students to determine accommodations and ensure equal access throughout each student’s academic and college experience. With a passion for helping people, Amy enjoys meeting and connecting with students, faculty, and staff. Outside of work, Amy loves spending time with her family, friends, and dogs. She enjoys volunteering with the organization, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and also delights in discovering new craft projects, watching musicals, taking nature walks, traveling, and shopping.

Michael Crump

Access Specialist , Office of Accessible Education


Biography

Michael joined the Office of Accessible Education in 2025. He received a Bachelor’s degree in social science from Boise State University and a Master’s degree in education from the University of South Florida. Michael works with students to determine meaningful accommodations that support equal access to the opportunities and resources available to them at SCU. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time at the coast, exploring art and art history, and watching documentaries and scifi series and movies.

Cam Coulter

Digital Access Specialist , Office of Accessible Education


Biography

Cam Coulter ’15 joined the Office of Accessible Education in 2024. Cam supports disabled students and employees who use assistive technology, and they work on improving campus-wide digital accessibility. Cam is a Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA) and previously worked as a digital accessibility consultant, testing websites and apps to make sure they work well for people with disabilities and people who use assistive technologies like screen readers. They have also previously worked as a Training Specialist at Hope Services. They are always happy to talk about ethical technology, speculative fiction, and intentional community.

Heidi Qandah

Heidi Qandah

Executive Function Coach , Office of Accessible Education


Biography

Heidi Qandah is a City University of New York-SPS graduate, where she earned her Master’s degree in Disability Services in Higher Education. Heidi joined the Office of Accessible Education in 2024. Through her role, Heidi partners with students with disabilities to establish SMART goals, create achievable plans, elevate their academic strategies, and scaffold their progress and growth through reflective thinking. Heidi enjoys coffee, chocolate, and Middle Eastern food, and is always on the lookout for low-sugar versions of desserts.
