Tears of Joy
A scholarship is more than simply a number with a dollar sign before it. It means that I do not need to worry about the financial stress put on my mom, a single mother of three daughters. It means that my institution wants me to succeed and has the resources to help me achieve my goals. It means that I can be welcomed into the Bronco family, a home away from home.
I graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, near Los Angeles. When I saw that I received such a generous scholarship from SCU, my mom and I both cried out with tears of joy and gratitude. As everything came together, I knew this was the place for me. With the beautiful Mission Church at the heart of campus, I am able to grow in my Catholic faith. Living in a close-knit Residential Learning Community provides a warm environment to engage with fellow Broncos and pursue my passion as an artist. The campus and its students inspire me to dream bigger, work harder, and succeed to the fullest.
The scholarship support provided by the Santa Clara Fund has given me the chance to pursue my dreams. If it were not for the generous donors to this fund, I would not have the opportunity to experience the joy of learning who I am and what I want to do for the rest of my life. After I graduate with my BA in Psychology, I hope to attend the Santa Clara School of Counseling Psychology and Education and become a counselor.
I extend the biggest THANK YOU to each and every one of the donors to the Santa Clara Fund. I am just one of many students blessed to be given the opportunity to come to this great university. Never will I forget the generosity of the donors to this school, and I cannot wait to give back to future Broncos after I graduate. With all my gratitude, thank you.
