Finance Fairfield, CT
Areas of Interest at SCU and LSB:
Here at Santa Clara University, I am a finance major and history minor. I am hoping to pursue a career in the financial sector and potentially look into working for aventure capital firm.
What are your SCU and LSB activities/general hobbies?
At Santa Clara University, I am involved with the Leavey Ambassadors program as well as the LSB Peer Advisors. I enjoy assisting with any advice or questions that younger students may have. In my free time, I watch a lot of soccer and baseball. In addition, I have spent many weekends skiing in Vermont and was even an instructor for two seasons.
What global experiences have you had in college?
As I am from the East Coast. I have been able to meet other students at SCU from all around the country and even the world. Additionally, this fall I will be studying abroad in London with many of my peers from SCU.
What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at LSB?
While abroad, I will be interning at a corporation in London. I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to learn and work while away from home. It will be fascinating to see the differences between corporate culture in the United States and England.
Favorite LSB class. Why?
My favorite LSB class was definitely Accounting 11. In my sophomore year I took this intro to financial accounting class, and although it was challenging, the class helped me gain a better understanding of the accounting cycle and the many intricacies of financial reporting. A lot of work was required to learn the various accounting principals, but I found it to be a very rewarding class.
What made you choose to attend LSB?
I really liked the idea of going to school in the heart of Silicon Valley as there are a tremendous amount of opportunities in the area. So far, I have loved being forced to expand my horizons and enjoy life on the West Coast.
What advice you wish you had while applying to college?
Some advice that I wish that I had would definitely be to focus on the feeling you get while visiting schools. I think many other students would agree with me when I say that SCU really feels like home. I encourage all prospective students to think about this, rather than being so overwhelmed with reputations and constantly comparing themselves to others.
