The practicum experience was one of the first courses added by faculty leaders who designed the new MS in Business Analytics curriculum. All full-time students are required to participate in an industry practicum/capstone. Here are a few exciting projects from MSBA students:
United Way 201 Call Data
Using United Way of Silicon Valley's call data, STUDENT X and Professor Sanjiv Das were able to provide the social service agency with information to help them allocate their limited resources.
Ballet San Jose
Professor John Heineke and several of his students worked with the Ballet San Jose to analyze marketing and development data to improve financial stability. Some students have gone on to become interns with the company's business office.
San Jose Mayor's Office
One of several projects coming out of the San Jose Mayor's office was an analysis of crime data for the San Jose region, giving the Mayor and senior officials a moving picture of crime waves by season and time of day, helping leaders of the eighth largest city in the U.S. manage resources.
